OCAA Proud to Partner With Black Law Student’s Association on the Isaac Moot

By October 29, 2020 News

The ‘Isaac’ is a for-credit moot that has run across Canada for the last fourteen years. Named after Julius Alexander Isaac, the first Black person to sit on the Federal Court of Canada, the moot encourages students to apply critical race theories to legal problems.

A Video Feedback Program was developed in partnership with the OCAA for the 2019-2020 moot. Based upon the advocacy programs developed by the OCAA for Assistant Crown Attorneys, this program gives students the option of having their oral arguments recorded. They will then be reviewed by experienced litigators who will provide detailed feedback following the competition. OCAA members, along with other members of the bar, participate as reviewers and mentors.

Best of luck to all participants in 2021!
